
Who is Grizzly Jon?
Jon grew up in New Hampshire and enlisted in the US Army in 1988. He graduated from the University of Alaska-Anchorage. He started diving recreationally in the late-90’s, while completing the “James Bond Challenge” of being an avid climber, diver, skier, marksman, pilot, and parachutist. He retired from the Army in 2012, grew a beard, gained the name “Grizzly Jon”, and has since shared his passion for diving whenever and wherever he wants. He became a PADI professional in 2014 and has worked as a Divemaster/Instructor on dive boats in the Bahamas, Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Florida, and California. Jon can instruct in multiple dive specialty courses and teaches offshore/wilderness emergency medicine under Emergency First Response (EFR) (CPR/AED/Adult and Child Care) and Divers Alert Network (DAN) (Prepared Diver, CPR Health Care Provider with AED, Basic Life Support: CPR and First Aid, First Aid for Hazardous Marine Life, Neurological Assessments, Diver Emergency Medical Provider (DEMP), Diving First Aid for Dive Professionals (DFA Pro)).
